Inside Out 2024
blown glass, frit, light pad
This work draws inspiration from the contrasting qualities of glass—vulnerability and fluidity, fragility and malleability, connection and disconnection. This duality reflects the human experience, a recurring theme in my work. I see a connection between humans and the qualities of glass, embodying strength and fragility.
In this series, I created organic forms that encase coloured glass. The transparent glass serves as both a spectacle and a barrier, presenting the enclosed objects while distancing the viewer. Some pieces intensify this with textured thread or opaque glass, creating tension between sharing and self-preservation.
The forms' interiors are illuminated on a light pad, emphasising the complex interplay between exposure and protection, connection and isolation."
